This is a famous closing prayer of praise by the Apostle Paul, highlighting God's limitless power, His work inside believers, and the ultimate goal of bringing glory to Him.
Paul writes that God can do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think". This means God is not restricted by human imagination, and His capacity to act goes far beyond our biggest prayers or dreams.
This great power is not just distant or external; it is actively working inside believers through the Holy Spirit to change hearts and accomplish His purposes.
The final goal of God’s amazing power is not to grant selfish wishes, but to receive honour and praise.
Glory is given "in the church and in Christ Jesus"—meaning the community of believers united together lifts up Jesus across all time, “throughout all generations, forever and ever".
