COLOSSIANS 3:17
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” means, bring honour to Christ in every aspect of your life.
We believers are ambassadors of Christ (2: CORINTHIANS 5:20), and must represent Him at all times, wherever you are, whoever you are with, whatever you are doing, wherever you go, and whatever you say!
Paul gives us a strategy to help us live for Christ day by day:
1) Take on His loving caring attitude, bearing and forgiving those who wrong you as Christ has forgiven you (v12-13).
2) “Put on love,” that is to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.””

Furthermore, Jesus said, ““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,”

Love is the very foundation of Gods laws and way of life. If only everyone could put these two great commandments into practice, this world would soon become a better place to live.
3) Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart, being thankful (v15); 4) learn God’s word, let it dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (v16); 5) “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Furthermore, to live right within one’s family Paul gives us good advice, saying “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

It is not enough to know God’s word, we must live God’s word, walking in the Spirit producing good fruits (GALATIANS 5:16-26), taking advantage of every opportunity the Lord brings to share the Good News, shining for Christ, whether in work, rest, or play, glorifying our Father in heaven in every we do and say.
