Live Within Your Own Station

EXODUS 20:12

“”Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In the promised land, the Israelites would need to respect authority and build strong families.

God has ultimate authority over all things, and every knee shall bow before God and every mouth shall confess to God (ROMANS 14:11).

If we are to live in peace, we all need to respect authority as to the Lord, and it starts with our parents.

But what does it mean to “honour” our parents?

In part, it means not to speak bad of them and to be always polite and respectful. It means to act in a way that shows them courtesy and respect, but not necessarily obedient if that means being disobedient to God. It means respecting them, but always putting God first.

Furthermore, it doesn’t mean one must agree with their parents, nor join their sins, or allow them to abuse.

God placed us in the care of our parents, so even if we find it difficult to get along, God commands us to honour them.

But it goes both ways.

As parents, we have been entrusted with God’s children, to bring them into the world and keep them safe. We must love them as our own, with the understanding that they belong to the Almighty.

We must bring them up with good examples of morality, teaching them to fear the Lord, to respect others and live right with loving discipline.

Not to use them and abuse them, but to love them and give them a good start in life and prepare them for adulthood.

Therefore, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Parents are ultimately responsible for their children, not their school teachers, social services, or government; and therefore the earnest is on you parents to teach them Gods ways and to ensure that what schools are teaching them is true, morally sound, and honourable.

It is your responsibility as parents to protect your children from false teaching and doctrines being pushed by our governments in schools and communities in this dark world.

The devil comes to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (JOHN 10:10); he comes through schools, media, tech, and every way he can, even through some parents if they join in with his abuse.

As far as he is concerned, all children are up for grabs. What your children take into their minds will shape the way they think, believe, and behave.

Don’t allow the devil access to their souls (their mind, will, and emotions) through schools, media, tech, or influential people, or even through you yourself.

Therefore, whether a parent or a teacher, or an onlooker, Protect them, and if is possible, make sure that God’s Word is the overpowering influence in their lives and keep them safe.

God’s Word is the ultimate safeguarding measure.

My beloved, the truth is we people must live within our own station, respecting all others.

Therefore, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
