God Is Our Refuge & Our Strength
I Trust In God
PSALM 46:1-3
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah”
Psalms 46:1-3 NKJV

Life can be challenging, indeed overwhelming!
As James told us: “we all face troubles, fears, and challenges (JAMES 1:2).”
But God is a very present help in times of trouble.
We don’t know what the psalmist was facing when he wrote Psalm 46, or what disaster was befalling the children of Israel. But the first words to be uttered out of their mouths in worship were: “God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Therefore we will not fear.” We shall make a firm decision to trust God.
This troubled world threatens us today ; corrupt governments are placing unprecedented controls and restrictions on our speech and even our prayers.
Our health care systems are collapsing along with our world finance.
Increasing poverty, lawlessness, and unrest is sending fear, anxiety, and division throughout the nations. Furthermore, we are facing more and more extreme whether systems and earthquakes, wars, and even the threat of nuclear blasts.
But the psalm writer tells us, even in the midst of the most extreme circumstances, we need not fear. In the face of utter destruction, the writer expressed a quiet confidence in God.
To contemplate facing such extreme circumstances without being consumed by fear seems impossible.
But the bible is clear-God is our refuge and our strength.
I encourage you, He goes before you, making a safe passage, and He stays with you through it all. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed (DEUTERONOMY 31:8).
However big or small, or great, or extreme or impossible your troubles may seem; nothing too much trouble for God.
What is humanly impossible is possible with God (LUKE 18:27; MATHEW 19:26), even your impossible situation that you face today.
He is your eternal refuge and not only can, but will provide the help and strength we need in any circumstance.
Today, this world has become consumed with fear and confusion, but even in the midst of the darkness the world faces today, we believers have no reason to be anxious for anything, for our God, the Almighty is in control.
My beloved, call upon the name of the Lord and watch the darkness flee from your career, your marriage, your health, your wealth, and have joy and peace in Christ Jesus; peace that surpasses all understanding that guards our hearts and minds through Christ (PHILIPPIANS 4:7).
The devil has many evil schemes in these last days, and fear is one of his major weapons.
But it is encouraging to know that even in the extremities of this dark world, we already have the victory through Christ, for it is written,
“Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, And pity His people. The Lord will answer and say to His people, “Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, And you will be satisfied by them; I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations. “But I will remove far from you the northern army, And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land, With his face toward the eastern sea And his back toward the western sea; His stench will come up, And his foul odor will rise, Because he has done monstrous things.” Fear not, O land; Be glad and rejoice, For the Lord has done marvelous things! Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field; For the open pastures are springing up, And the tree bears its fruit; The fig tree and the vine yield their strength. Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you— The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame. “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.”
Joel 2:18-32 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
