We believers are not only born again into a new family, but we become a new creation.
The Holy Spirit gives us new life, and we are in God’s timing, individually transformed into a brand new people.
The old person has passed away, along with it our record of sin, justified by the blood of Jesus shed on a cross.
Furthermore, as promised by Jesus, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit; He will dwell with you and will be in you; He will never leave you. He is our help to lead and guide us on a path of righteousness (JOHN 14: 15-18).
The term “new nature” refers to the transformation that occurs within people when they submit, cooperate, and believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour (ROMANS 12:1-2).
That is not rehabilitated, reformed, or renovated. It means completely and distinctly brand new, born again into a new family, with new values, new motives, and a whole new way of life, living in vital union with Christ (COLOSSIANS 2:6-7).
While this transformation is true individually, Paul is telling us that not only are believers changed from within, there is far more, that a whole new order of creation began with Christ.
There is a new covenant, a new body (church), and all of creation is being renewed.
This is an entirely new order of all creation under the authority of Jesus Christ.
The old man can still present himself in the new life and expresses himself in sinful deeds, so we must put off the old man and put on the new, like putting on a new suit of righteousness, renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him (COLOSSIANS 3:10).
In other words, God transforms us by renewing the mind (ROMANS 12:1-2), giving us a new Christ like nature within, that must be cultivated and nurtured by spiritual decisiveness to grow in Christ, that we become more Christ like day by day as the Holy Spirit does a good work from within.
And I am convinced that God who began a good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns (Philippians 1:6).
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
