We all have those days when the last thing we want to do is rejoice.
Our situation seems to be out of control, our mood is down and we are overwhelmed with worry, sorrow or guilt, shame, and often pain.
We just want to hide ourselves as we sink into a pit of self pity and shame.
We have thoughts of how rubbish we are, and beat ourselves up with negative thoughts.
Especially in these days of darkness and even our very hope is being attacked.
There has never been such a time as this, and as a result, we see a massive increase in anxiety/ depression all kinds of mental health issues, including suicidal thoughts, confidence issues, broken marriages, addictions, and lawlessness.
My brethren, it can be an encouragement to look at the writers of the Psalms, who often felt this way and follow their example.
No matter how low the writers felt, they remained honest with God.
They talked to God in prayer; and whatever their situation, their prayers ended in praise.
When you are feeling down and don’t feel like rejoicing, tell the Lord how you feel, and you will find that God will give you a reason to rejoice.
My beloved, He always hears His children.
Maybe you don’t know Jesus yet, or think that you are not good enough, or your sins are too great.
I encourage you, while no sin is too small to separate one from God, no sin is too great for God to forgive; He paid a high price for you, for He wants no one to perish, but for all to turn to Him in repentance (2 PETER 3:9).
My beloved, no problem, whether, health, money, marriage, addiction, or any situation at all is too big, small, or impossible for Jesus; He came to give you life, and that you may have it more abundantly (JOHN 10:10).
It’s a free gift, all you need do is believe, stand on His promises, and say thank You.
Like David, we all have a Goliath in our life; but it’s encouraging to know that nothing is too big when God is with you.
David picked up five smooth stones, took one of them, placed into his sling, hurled it at that giant and took him down, and then removed his head to silence him forever (1SAMUEL 17:40-51).
Those five smooth stones represent the Jesus five fold ministry of Christ (EPHESIANS 4:11), and with Christ ministry, those stones are ready and available to take down the giant in your life and silence the enemy forever.
Jesus Christ is the corner stone, and His Word, His ways, His truth, and His life (JOHN 14:6), will take out every giant in your life; poverty, sickness, relationship issues, addiction, career issues, learning difficulties, and any situation at all, no giant is too big for Jesus; He has the victory even over death.
But whist He gave us a breast plate in our armor (ISAIAH 59:17; EPHESIANS 6:14) to confront our enemies and situations, He didn’t give us a back plate. Trying to run from our situation will only bring pain as the devil throws his fiery arrows.
My brethren, don’t run from the situation that you are in, but rather confront it with every peace of armor and the two edged sword which is the word of God which defeats all our enemies including fear and shame.
My beloved, rise up and rejoice, for Jesus covered it all, cleansing those who believe on Him of all wrongdoing and makes ways where there were no ways.
He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.“
Isaiah 53:3-11 NKJV
But we all need to understand, if it’s not Jesus five fold ministry, it’s not Jesus ministry; and if it’s not Jesus ministry, it’s of the enemy and he deceives many.
Jesus came to defeat the enemy and build His church, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
Ephesians 4:11-16 NKJV
My beloved, God blessed you with another day of opportunity, to live and to serve our God.
He paid a high price for you, so don’t waste it by feeling sorry for yourself, or by worrying about those things you cannot change.
Being sad and miserable won’t change them, in deed it only makes them worse.
But rather, confront your situation, “Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.“
Philippians 4:5-7 NKJV
If need, bring your situation to the church and crush the enemy under her feet (GENESIS 3:15).
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
