But The Gateway To Life Is Very Narrow And Is Very Difficult, Only A Few Ever Find It
Are You On The Path Of Eternal Life?
MATHEW 7:14
“Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
”Matthew 7:14 NKJV

Here, Jesus teaches that eternal life is accessed through a demanding path. The "gate is small and the way is narrow," requiring intentional sacrifice, denial of self, and disciplined obedience. Because it is a rigorous lifestyle, "few find it," contrasting with the easy path many choose that leads to destruction.
The Narrow Gate represents an exclusive choice and a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Elsewhere in the Gospels, Jesus declares Himself the "door (JOHN 10:7-9)”, meaning this narrow way is the path of faith in Him.
The word for "narrow" (or "strait" in older translations) carries the idea of pressure or restriction. It involves a lifestyle of self-denial, resisting daily temptations, and pursuing love and righteousness according to God's standards rather than broad cultural trends.
The path ultimately leads to true, eternal life in the presence of God.
The "Few" highlights the reality that following the majority lifestyles of the world leads us away from God. The broad way requires no moral effort or sacrifice, making it much more popular, but it ultimately leads to ruin.
My beloved, are you on the narrow path of eternal life?
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
