For Even The Son Of Man Came Not To Be Served But To Serve Others And To Give His Life As A Ransom For Many

Not I, But Christ In Me

MATHEW 20:25-28

“But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20:25-28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus way of leadership comes with a new perspective. Rather than using His authority to “Lord it over His people,” He came to serve.

In fact, Jesus mission was to serve people and then give His life away as a ransom (PHILIPPIANS 2:6-7).

Jesus often told His disciples that He must die, but here He told them why; to be a ransom for many. Indeed all who believe in Him (ROMANS 10:9-11).”

A “ransom” was the price to release a slave from bondage. The disciples thought as long as Jesus lived, He could save them, but in reality, the only way Jesus could save them and us today, was by His death and resurrection, and that my beloved was the high price Jesus paid to set us and the world free from the bondage of sin and death.

Jesus is the example to follow; leadership within church must come from God, not the Pastor or vicar; it is God’s church, not man’s.

Yet, we Spirit filled believers have God given authority within our individual calling and over even the demons and their powers (LUKE 10:17). “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭26‬-‭29‬ ‭NKJV

Many say, “women should not teach or lead,” which according to 1 TIMOTHY 2:12 is true. But in reality nor should men, but rather, whether male or female, it is Christ in them that should do it. For in Christ one is neither male nor female, for you are one in Christ.

My beloved, we are all of the same stature, not one is above or below another in Christ.

Therefore, silence your flesh, step aside and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide and move through the whole congregation, speaking with boldness (ACTS 4:31), for “He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬-‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My beloved, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:5-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A godly leader has a servants heart, they appreciate others worth and realise that they are not above any one or duty.

A good church leader cares for his congregation and recognises that his authority is in Christ alone.

Jesus cared enough for you that He gave up His life, paying the ransom,  that you might live.

We believers don’t need to die for our fellow believers, but we do need to die to self, and take on a servants heart, and allow the Spirit to work through us all.

Assembly should not about what one can get from church, but rather about what he can give.

Assembly is the coming together of the body in intimacy with Christ who is the head.

Furthermore, since we are all individual members of the body and gifted accordingly (1 CORINTHIANS 13), we must all humbly take our place and walk together by the leading of the Holy Spirit in unity, edifying one another (1 THESSALONIANS 5:11).

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭19‬-‭25‬ ‭NKJV‬

All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
