I Will Give Thanks To The Lord With My Whole Heart; I Will Recount All Of Your Wonderful Deeds

PSALM 9:1-4
“I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your presence. For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.”

David starts by praising God and promising to thank Him completely—not just with his lips, but with his whole being. He decides to remember and tell others about the amazing things (wonderful deeds) God has done in the past.
True joy comes from God Himself, and is our strength (NEHEMIAH 8:10), and is not just from getting good gifts. David rejoices in God's character and calls Him El Elyon (the Most High), acknowledging that God is higher and more powerful than any earthly ruler.
David looks at his enemies retreating. He realizes their defeat did not happen because of his own strength; instead, his enemies tripped and fell simply because God was present.
When we look back at what God has done in our lives, the changes in us, the peace that has come, we get enthusiasm to go on through our trials and challenges in the knowledge that God is working in us and for us as we see our enemies retreating.
David explains why he is praising God. God acted like a fair judge in a courtroom, defending David's honest cause and proving that David was in the right against his unfair opponents.
Just like David, we must take our true enemies, the devil and his fallen angels, who are the source if our troubles, into the courts of heaven through prayer to bring the victorious outcome.
David shows that praising God requires our complete focus and memory, rather than a half-hearted or distracted attitude.
The text portrays God sitting on a throne. He is not passive; He watches human affairs, defends the wronged, and judges fairly.
My beloved, the glory always belongs to our God. When threats disappear, the credit must go to God's holy presence rather than human skill. Only He is worthy of all praise.
We humans can do nothing good that is lasting in our own strength, but we can do all things through Christ who is our strength (PHILIPPIANS 4:13).
