Here, this verse explains the gospel's core purpose through Jesus' sacrificial death-that believers are rescued from sin's penalty and given unmerited, lavish forgiveness.
The verse breaks down into four primary truths.
“In him", our salvation is entirely tied to Jesus Christ. We possess these spiritual blessings only by being united with Him.
Redemption (the Greek word apolutrōsis) refers to purchasing a slave’s freedom or paying a ransom. The "price" paid for our debt of sin and spiritual freedom was the sacrificial death (blood) of Jesus.
Because the ransom has been paid, our sins (trespasses) are completely pardoned and wiped away.
“According to the riches of his grace", God’s forgiveness is not given grudgingly or based on what we deserve. It flows directly from the abundant, limitless, and inexhaustible wealth of His kindness.
My beloved, it doesn’t matter how dark one’s past, the evil he or she has involved in, Jesus paid it all for all who believe in Him.
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
Please share to our brothers and sisters all around the world.
