Written by King David, this verse serves as practical, actionable wisdom for believers on how to live a blessed, righteous life. It outlines a proactive approach to faith, emphasizing that avoiding sin is only the first step.
The key breakdown of the Verse is “Turn from evil..."This is the call to repentance and actively leaving behind destructive behaviours, malicious habits, and sinful patterns. It requires a conscious choice to change direction.
Righteousness isn't just about what you don't do; it’s about what you do. This is the call to actively practice kindness, justice, and charity in your daily life.
It is a call to seek peace, and pursue it.
Peace is not passive. The word "pursue" denotes a relentless action—like hunting or chasing something down. It involves actively working to resolve conflicts, maintaining harmony in relationships, and choosing patience over anger.
In verses 11 through to 13, David poses the question: "Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days...". He then presents verse 14 as the literal answer or instruction for how to actually live that kind of prosperous and fulfilling life.
It is easy to claim to be walking the Christian life, but actions speak louder than words.
We believers are called to be different, and that difference is what shall draw others to the Lordship of Christ.
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
Please share to our brothers and sisters all around the world.
