In The Same Manner He Also Took The Cup After Supper, Saying, This Cup Is The New Covenant In My Blood. This Do, As Often As You Drink It, In Remembrance Of Me"
Communion
1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26
“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
”I Corinthians 11:23-26 NKJV
Communion unlike all the other religious ceremonies and sacrifices, is the only religious ceremony that we believers are called to do in today’s world.
This cup represents the painful cup put on Christ at the cross. It was through His suffering and shedding of blood that the new covenant was made and believers are ultimately saved.
“For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.”
Isaiah 53:2-11 NKJV
All the others religious ceremonies and sacrifices were regarding the atonement of sin and where totally fulfilled by Jesus Christ on a cross.
For like Paul, by Gods grace, justified by His blood, we receive the gift of life because our debt is paid and His blood through baptism is applied to our lives.
Since Jesus fulfilled every religious act on the cross, the debt of the world was paid in full; He was the Lamb that was slain (REVELATION 5:12).
Therefore, as spoken by Jesus Christ Himself, “it is finished (JOHN 19:30).”
Because of what Jesus has done, despite the fact that He was betrayed, salvation, regardless of one’s sin, skin colour, place of birth, past beliefs, health or wealth, or even sexual orientation, is available to all people, simply by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is by faith alone that one is cleansed of all sin and ultimately saved.
“For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.””
Romans 10:5-13 NKJV
My beloved, consider one’s self clean by his or her own works is only fooling themselves, for we have all sinned and fall short of His glory.
Therefore, “”He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.””
John 3:18-21 NKJV
Surely, “Therefore whoever eats this bread and drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged,
we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.”
I Corinthians 11:27-32 NKJV
On examination of one’s self, what do you see? A child of God washed white as snow by the blood or not.
My beloved, we must accept ourselves as sinners in need of a saviour, but cleansed by the blood of Jesus and saved, for He alone is our Saviour.
He who does not believe on the Lord Jesus surely must not drink of the Lord’s cup, for he is condemned already and therefore unworthy.
But however, every time a believer takes communion by faith, he or she correctly proclaims the Lord’s death till He comes.
Please like and share to our brothers and sisters all around the world.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
