Take Delight In The LORD And He Will Give You The Desires Of Your Heart
Feed On His Faithfulness
PSALM 37:3-5
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Trust in the Lord, by being dependent on Him in every aspect of your life, and do good. Help and encourage others in their troubles and then you will live safely in the land.
It’s one thing to help someone when everything in your life is running smooth, or you have a financial abundance, but it takes faith to give when you are stretched yourself.
But what this psalm is telling us is to put your trust in God, and by His leading, do good regardless; to feed of His faithfulness by standing on His promise that He will provide all your needs.
When you make the decision to reach out to help a brother or sister in need, God will send the right help you need; He will put on someone else’s heart to help you-the right person gifted to help your personal needs. The result is, we all reach out to one another in God’s love; friendships blossom, and we Christians, who are the body of Christ, begin to work together in unity like a well oiled machine.
Furthermore, it is satisfying and feels really good when you help someone in need and their troubles are resolved.
David tells us to delight ourselves in the Lord and commit everything we have to Him.
To delight in the Lord, is to experience great pleasure and joy in His presence. We can do this when we know that person really well; thus to delight in the Lord, we must get know God well by reading His word, talking and listening to Him in prayer, developing our personal relationship with Him, and gaining understanding of His unconditional love for us that will most certainly give us delight.
To commit our way to the Lord, is to commit every part of our lives to God, to submit to His plans and purposes in all that we do and all that we have, putting all our trust in Him, delighting in His presence, and then He shall give us the desires of our hearts.
We may read this verse as a promise that God will give us anything we want. But when one truly delights in the Lord, God plants godly desires into his or her heart, and through the Holy Spirit, He empowers him or her to do His will (PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
Furthermore, since He is our creator, He knows us better than we know ourselves, He knows what will bring fulfilment, contentment, joy, and peace into our hearts. Our lives become in alignment with God to carry out His plans and purposes in our lives.
God calls us to give and help others out of love, not foolishness. Giving and helping others does not purchase our place with God-our good deeds cannot buy our salvation. Furthermore, giving must be by the leading of the Holy Spirit and not because of any other reason.
To give from the leading of your flesh or emotions may undermine the work of God in others and indeed may lead you to financial ruin, and even be damaging to your health.
Therefore, giving and helping people in need must be God’s plan, not yours, and then He will provide everything you need in that situation.
Giving is a big part of being a Christian, whether giving financially or with time, wether to the church or the needy, we are called to give joyfully.
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
II Corinthians 9:7-15 NKJV
But however, God will not finance your foolishness.
God has a wonderful plan for each of us, to forward His ministry, draw people to Christ, and heal the sick, raise the dead, cure leprosy, and cast out demons (MATHEW 8:10), to bring peace, love, and unity into His church (EPHESIANS 4:11-16), and He gifted us all individually to carry out His good works and edify the church (1 CORINTHIANS 12:7).
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (JEREMIAH 29:11).
God is faithful to fund His church and projects, but it takes every member to their bit in obedience within the body of Christ with both time and money, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, that we become productive within the ministry.
Therefore, stay enthusiastic by feeding of His Faithfulness, being constantly filled with joy, which is your strength (NEHEMIAH 8:10), and strive to serve, not by one's own abilities and strength, but by the Holy Spirit within.
“But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Hebrews 6:9-12 NKJV
My beloved, as I told you before, ““Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever Amen!
