Therefore I Tell You, Do Not Worry About Your Life
ALL Shall Be Added To You
MATHEW 6:25
““Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”
Matthew 6:25 NKJV

Here, in Matthew 6:25, Jesus commands His followers not to be anxious about basic physical needs like food and clothing. He argues that since God granted the greater gift of physical life itself, He can be trusted to provide the lesser necessities to sustain it.
The words “Therefore I tell you..." connects directly to the previous verses (Matthew 6:19-24), where Jesus explains that you cannot serve both God and money. Because your ultimate loyalty belongs to God, your priorities should shift away from material hoarding.
Jesus specifically addresses the most basic human necessities of the ancient agrarian world and modern daily survival. The underlying Greek word for "worry" or "anxious" (merimnao) suggests a divided mind or being pulled in different directions.
“Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?"
Jesus presents a logical argument based on value. If God has bestowed the miracle of life and a physical body, it makes sense that He will also provide the everyday means to support them.
This verse starts off with Jesus' famous section on worry (Matthew 6:25-34), which bridges directly into His concluding advice to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
Notice, He didn’t say some things will be added to you, He said “ALL”.
He reminds His listeners that God feeds the birds, even though they don't farm or store food in barns. Since humans are made in God's image, He values them far more than birds.
Jesus points out the practical uselessness of anxiety, for worrying cannot add a single hour to your life (Matthew 6:27).
No wonder, God’s Word tells us more than 365 times throughout the Bible, “do not worry”.
Ultimately, Jesus is not telling His followers to be lazy or reckless, but to reorder their priorities. He teaches that when our primary focus is on God's kingdom, we can rest assured that our Heavenly Father knows what we need and will provide for us.
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
