David knew from experience what it meant to wait for the Lord. He was anointed king at the young age of sixteen, but didn't actually become king until he was thirty.
During the interim, he had been chased through the wilderness by a very jealous king Saul.
David had to wait on God for the fulfilment of his promise to reign.
When he became king, he was then chased by his rebellious son, Absalom who wanted to kill him.
Waiting for God isn't easy, it often feels like God hasn't heard our prayers, or isn't answering them, or He doesn't understand the urgency of our situation.
That kind of thinking implies that God is not in control or doesn't care. But the truth is, God is always in control, He knows the perfect time to act, and what is best for you long term!
He sees not in part, but the whole picture and His actions are perfect and come in His perfect timing.
My beloved, He is certainly worth waiting for, LAMENTATIONS 3:24-26 calls us to hope in and wait for the Lord, because He uses time of waiting to refresh, renew, and teach us; the truth is, He never stops working in our lives. He uses all things to work together for our good (ROMANS 8:28).
Make good of your waiting times by discovering what God may be trying to teach you.
Put your trust in God, for He knows what is best and the best timing for You in your life and situations.
He has the perfect plan and timing for you; all you need do is trust Him. Nothing can stop God’s plans, even so, There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.”
Proverbs 19:21 NKJV
His plans and His timing is always perfect.
Psalm 27 is David’s psalm of praise for the many times God had delivered him and rescued him from great peril and death.
Just like God was faithful to save David over and over regardless of his failings, God is faithful to deliver us and rescue His people today regardless of how we got into our troubles.
Whether by persecution or our own sin, God is faithful to forgive and restore us, when we are ready to submit to Him and repent.
Therefore, make this psalm your own declaration of the many times that God has rescued you and delivered you from the enemy.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
Psalms 27:1-14 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
