This verse tells that God deserves worship everywhere across the earth (from east to west) and all day long (from dawn until dusk).
From east to west, people everywhere should honour God. His glory is not limited to one place or nation.
Praise should happen all day. Every hour from morning to night belongs to God.
The name of the Lord means His whole character, power, and goodness. He is to be continually praised for being high above the heavens yet caring for the poor and lowly.
Psalm 113 is part of the "Egyptian Hallel" (Psalms 113–118), which Jews traditionally sang during the Passover meal. Because the Last Supper was a Passover meal, Jesus and His disciples sang these exact words the night before His crucifixion.
The Gospel of Matthew notes that before heading to the Mount of Olives, Jesus and the disciples "sung a hymn" (Matthew 26:30). That hymn was the Hallel, starting with Psalm 113.
By singing Psalm 113:3, Jesus declared that God's name is to be praised from morning to night—even though He knew He was about to face betrayal, arrest, and death.
Psalm 113 describes a God who "stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth" to lift up the poor. At the Last Supper, Jesus physically acted this out by washing His disciples' feet, and later by dying on the cross.
Therefore my beloved, “Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, Praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord From this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down The Lord’s name is to be praised. The Lord is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, Who dwells on high, Who humbles Himself to behold The things that are in the heavens and in the earth? He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, That He may seat him with princes— With the princes of His people. He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise the Lord!”
Psalms 113:1-9 NKJV
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen
