For The Spirit God Gave Us Does Not Make Us Timid, But Gives Us Power, Love, And A Sound Mind
Put On Love
2 TIMOTHY 1:6-7
“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
II Timothy 1:6-7 NKJV

Timothy had received his spiritual gifts by prophecy when the elders laid their hands on him and set him aside for ministry (1 TIMOTHY 4:14).
Just as in those days of old, God gives us spiritual gifts today, often by prophecy and the laying on of hands to build the body of Christ to do the Lord’s work and edify the body (see 1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-31).
Timothy faced great opposition, both to his message and to himself as a leader.
His youth, leadership, and association with Paul had come under fire from both believers and nonbelievers alike, but Paul encouraged him to be bold.
It is easy to find fault in others, and often people will try to intimidate us to dampen our gifts, sometimes out of jealousy or simply because they have decided that your gift isn’t from God; Indeed, their are many reasons, but whatever the reason, if we allow people to intimidate us, we neutralise our effectiveness for God and our confidence will take a serious blow.
But the truth is, It really doesn’t matter what people think or say, it’s God’s opinions that counts.
The Holy Spirit who abides in all His people, is ready and willing to help (JOHN 14:15-18).
All one needs to do is ask.
He can and will empower us to overcome our fears of what some might say or do to us, so that we can boldly do God’s work with confidence.
Paul mentions three characteristics of the effective Christian leader. Power, love, and self-discipline.
These are all available to us supernaturally through the Holy Spirit, all one needs to do is believe and receive.
By following His leading day by day, regardless of what others might say, think, or do, your life will exhibit the fruits of the Holy Spirit. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (GALATIANS 5:23-24).
My beloved, God did not give us a spirit fear, but if one falls into fear, he may open a door to a spirit of fear to enter which in turn opens doors to depression, and even the spirit of suicide.
Fear is the opposite of faith, just as hot is the opposite of cold, and is one of the most powerful tools of the devil.
To fear is a sin and lets the devil in, for without faith it is impossible to please God (HEBREWS 11:6).
The bible tells us some 365 times do not fear, yet with a mustard seed of faith we can move every mountain in our lives (MATHEW 17:20).
My beloved, God gave us a spirit power, love, and a sound mind. Therefore, put on love, for it is a fruit of the Spirit and is a weapon of mass destruction against the enemy.
God’s kind of love is an action and a decision to care for others and help others without any expectation of something in return, and is the foundation of Jesus’ way of life (MATHEW 22:37-40).
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.”
I John 4:17-19 NKJV
My beloved, with the spirit of power that God put in you, put on perfect love, for it shall cast out all fear the very food of depression.
When staved, depression must fall away and with it, those suicidal thoughts, making way for a sound mind.
James said, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7 NKJV
Commit to Jesus way and submit to Him in your entirety, resist/ rebuke the devil, that is to command he come out from you, and he shall flee from you.
These demons are subject to every Spirit filled believer in Jesus name (LUKE 10:17), and when their authority to enter is taken away by repentance and rebuked, they are evicted and makes way to peace, joy, and contentment in Christ.
God’s peace surpasses all understanding and guards our hearts and minds through Christ (PHILIPPIANS 4:7), and the joy of the Lord is our strength (NEHEMIAH 8:10).
Therefore, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
James 4:8-10 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
