Do Away With Wrong Speech
PSALM 19:14
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.”

This psalm is a well-known prayer asking God to make both our spoken words and our inner thoughts pleasing to Him.
“The words of my mouth” refers to what we say out loud to other people, and to God. King David asks that his speech be kind, honest, and good, rather than hurtful or foolish.
What we say has long-lasting effects and is either a curse or a blessing (James 3:9-10). Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
We believers must make every effort to speak as children of God and refrain from all wrong speech, fowl language, and gossip.
The words “meditation of my heart, is our private thoughts, secret wishes, and inner feelings. It shows that God cares not just about how we act on the outside, but also about what goes on inside our minds.
David wants his whole inner and outer life to pass God's test, just like a pure offering, and like David, we believers must crave to be acceptable in His sight.
David calls God his Rock (Tzuri), meaning, safe, strong defender. He calls Him his Redeemer (Go'ali), meaning the one who rescues us from sin, danger, and helplessness.
The psalm starts by looking at the glory of God in nature, moves to the perfection of God's written laws, and ends with this personal prayer. Because God is so holy and great, David realizes he needs God's help to guard his speech and clean up his thoughts.
