If God Is For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?
PSALM 18:2
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

King David wrote this psalm as a song of praise after God rescued him from his enemies, including King Saul. By stacking multiple titles for God, David emphasizes personal trust and intimate reliance rather than abstract theology.
The word “Rock” reassures believers, of the security placed upon those trusting Him; which is referenced 20 times in the Psalms. It denotes stability, permanence, and a solid foundation when under pressure.
The words “fortress and stronghold” represent high, inaccessible places of safety where enemies cannot reach, superior to any human-built defense.
The Deliverer, Jesus Christ freed David and frees us from our afflictions, temptations, enemies, sin, death, and future wrath. God took active steps to rescue His people in David’s day, and continues to take whatever steps necessary to rescue His people today.
The Shield (or Buckler) reflects an active, close-range defense, covering a person from incoming danger or hostile attacks.
The “Horn of Salvation” pictures the strength and dominance of a powerful animal, meant to symbolize the efficacy of God's work. It is a symbol of victorious, aggressive power used to scatter adversaries.
I encourage you today, whatever battles you facing today, you already have the victory, and God Himself shall scatter your adversaries.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
