Love, The Foundation of Jesus Way Of Life

1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
”‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬

Often called the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13:4–6 was written by the Apostle Paul to the divided, prideful early church in Corinth. Instead of defining love agape as a fleeting romantic feeling, Paul describes it through active verbs, showing what genuine, God-like love looks like in daily life.
Rather than a feeling, love is a duty of care toward others.
It means enduring difficult people or circumstances for a long time without retaliating or losing your temper. It mirrors God's patience with humanity.
It means being kind, actively looking for ways to be helpful, gentle, and practical toward others rather than waiting to be served.

Love does not harbor jealousy or resentment when someone else succeeds, gets attention, or possesses something better.
It is not boastful or puffed up (arrogant); it does not use status, gifts, or achievements to look down on others or promote oneself.
The Corinthian church was obsessed with status, so Paul warns that real love is humble.
God’s love is not rude (Does not behave unseemly); it acts with proper courtesy, respect, and good manners rather than acting out, shaming, or losing control.
It does not insist on its own way (Not self-seeking), and puts the needs, comfort, and preferences of others ahead of your own stubborn demands.
It is not irritable (Not easily provoked), and does not fly off the handle, snap at people, or live with a hair-trigger temper.
Gods love is not resentful (Keeps no record of wrongs), and does not archive past hurts, nurse grudges, or secretly tally up offenses to use later.
It does not rejoice at wrongdoing (Does not delight in evil) and refuses to gossip, gloat when an enemy or rival fails, or compromise with sin just to keep the peace. It is not a replacement of justice, for justice is God's tool of discipline that shall bring many to repentance.

Rather than removing justice, forgiveness is letting go of all offence and the debt of the offender. Justice forces the offender to face their sin in truth and gives him or her the opportunity to repent.

Love takes genuine pleasure in truth, honesty, righteousness, moral integrity, and God's word, celebrating when people live rightly and truthfully.
God’s love is perfect and cast out all fear (John 4:18) and is the foundation of Jesus way of life (Mathew 22:37-40).
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
