As The Deer Pants For Streams Of Water, My Soul Pants For You, My God
Make Jesus Your All
PSALM 42:1-2
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
”Psalms 42:1-2 NKJV

Feeling separated from God, this psalmist would not rest until he restored his relationship with Him, because he knew that his life, in deed his eternal future depended on it.
Just like a deer pants for the water brooks, so his soul thirst for God.
Most believers experience the feeling of being separated from God; some because they made a mistake or fell into some kind of sin, others don’t even understand why or what they had done.
When one is saved, he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit and his or her eternal future is sealed (EPHESIANS 1:14).
The Spirit joins with his or her spirit and he or she becomes one spirit in Christ(1 CORINTHIANS 6:17).
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
Romans 8:16-17 NKJV
From within, the Holy Spirit leads us in all truth, (JOHN 16:13).
As we walk in agreement in the Spirit, He manifests Himself through our soul to do good works by our flesh, and out from the belly/ heart shall flow rivers of living waters (JOHN 7:38).
Furthermore, Jesus told us, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.””
Mark 16:17-18 NKJV
The Bible describes our soul (nephesh in Hebrew and psuche in Greek) as the whole person, embodying life, emotions, desires, and personality. It is our mind, will, and emotions; what you imagine, your free will to choose what you want and what you feel. It is the neutral ground between the flesh and spirit, and the place where all our decisions and free will are exercised.
It is the place of joy, peace, and contentment, or frustration, fear, and torment.
My beloved, when one falls into sin, whether aware of it or not, the Holy Spirit retreats from the flesh and remains quietly connected within one’s spirit, convicting repentance.
This is feel very uncomfortable, like we are condemned, but there is no condemnation for those in Christ; Those who are led by the Spirit (ROMANS 12:1-2).
But sin opens doors to the demonic to enter the flesh and he or she can become demonised.
It feels like Jesus has left us and that we are alone in the wilderness. Our soul shall feel cast down or crushed as our spiritual enemies attack us with whispers of lies and torment, kicking us while we are down.
But the truth is, Jesus never leaves us, and it’s all part of the process of building and changing us, that in our walk with God, over time we become more Christ-like in our attitudes and nature; “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:6 NKJV
The Spirit convicts repentance from within, and as James told us, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
James 4:7-10 NKJV
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, He is the only way to the Father in heaven (JOHN 14:6).
Their is no other way, not money, nor status, nor works, or any man, women, minister or pastor or religious organisation, or in deed, any other god that can save you, only Jesus can do that.
Even so, good works can only come from the Spirit within, for works of the flesh shall bring death
(GALATIONS 5:19-21).
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
James 2:26 NKJV
Your life today, tomorrow, and for all eternity is dependent on your relationship with Christ the coming judge who is to return to decide the eternal future of all mankind.
Surely, it makes sense to know Him, and know Him well.
We all have that friend who turns up only when he wants something; when he’s in some kind of situation or need, but for the rest of time is far away.
Don’t be like him when it comes to Jesus.
Involve Him in every aspect of your life; praise Him daily because He is deserving, not because you have some special need, but out of love for the Most High.
Relationship with God cannot be developed by attending church once a week.
Relationship only grows through regular quality time together.
Make time for Jesus; meet Him in secret, listening as much as speaking in prayer; and study His Word every single day, take it in, chew it over, and digest it, and speak it out over your life.
As Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ””
Matthew 4:4 NKJV
My beloved, make this life changing psalm your prayer, for Jesus is our all in all.
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, “Where is your God?” When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me— A prayer to the God of my life. I will say to God my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.”
Psalms 42:1-11 NKJV
