This verse is a pivotal verse in the New Testament that demonstrates the immediate, physical, and spiritual response of God to the prayers of the early Church.
The verse states: “And when they had prayed, the place where they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.”
To understand this verse, look at what happened just before it. The apostles Peter and John had been arrested and threatened by the Sanhedrin (the Jewish high council) for healing a lame man and preaching about the resurrection of Jesus. Upon their release, they did not hide or plan a political counter-attack. Instead, they returned to their community and prayed together.
Remarkably, they did not pray for safety or for God to destroy their enemies. They prayed for boldness to keep preaching and for God to continue performing miracles. Acts 4:31 is God's direct, three-part answer to that prayer.
Regardless of the persecution, we believers are called to pray for boldness to share the Good News regardless.

But that boldness comes as we believers submit to Him completely and God fills us and manifest Himself through our bodies.

All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen
