Stand Up And Go. Your Faith Has Healed You
Jesus Healed Ten Lepers
LUKE 17:11-19
“Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.””

Jesus healed ten men with leprosy, but only one—a Samaritan—returned to thank Him and give glory to God. Jesus noted that all ten were cleansed, but only the grateful outsider received true salvation and wholeness.
While traveling between Galilee and Samaria, Jesus was met by ten lepers who stood at a distance and cried out: "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!
Jesus instructed them to go and show themselves to the priests. As they went, their skin disease miraculously disappeared.
Sadly, only one man, upon realizing he was healed, turned back. Praising God in a loud voice, he fell at Jesus' feet and thanked Him.
Jesus asked: "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?" He observed that no one else returned to give glory to God except this foreigner.
Our walk with God is a package-we cannot cherry pick what we want and do want in our relationship with Christ.
Repentance is turning from all sin, and walking in line with God’s plans and purposes for your life. Anything outside of that is rebellion.
So many come to the Lord with songs of praise having received healing, only to slip back into bondage because their hearts are not in it. “So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.”
Joel 2:13 NKJV
Jesus said to the grateful man: "Rise and go; your faith has made you well." (In Greek, this implies he was not just physically healed, but spiritually saved).
Samaritans were typically viewed as outcasts or foreigners by the Jewish people of that era. Jesus highlighting this detail emphasizes that God's grace and salvation are for all people.
The nine who did not return were likely rushing off to the priests so their healing could be officially verified, which would allow them to rejoin their families and society after years of isolation. While natural, this caused them to miss recognizing the Healer Himself and placed themselves back into the world.
The story underscores the power of gratitude. Physical healing changed the men's circumstances, but returning to express faith and thankfulness brought the Samaritan into a deeper, life-altering relationship with Christ.
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
