Repent Of All Sin

PSALM 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

David was very aware that we are all born sinners (v5), and that our natural inclination is to please ourselves rather than God.

Indeed, he followed that inclination when he took another man’s wife.

The devil, just as he knew David’s weaknesses, knows your weaknesses and whether it’s a desire for immoral acts of sexual pleasure, or a sinful solution to your troubles, he will fill your heart with temptations when you are most vulnerable. Furthermore, he will fill your mind with words that justify your sin.

“”The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

One’s heart is a part of the flesh and is very happy to justify sin to survive or simply to bring pleasures to please the flesh because we humans inherited a sinful nature through Adam and Eve (ROMANS 5:12-21). Therefore, we cannot change from our sinful ways in our own strength, but need God to transform us by renewing our minds (ROMANS 12:1-2).

For Him to do that, we must desire holiness and cooperate with Him completely in repentance, putting the lust of our flesh to death by being willing to turn from all sin and become born again in the Spirit.

Jesus said, speaking to Nicodemus, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.””

‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The truth is, we all need God’s help when it comes to standing against sin. And like David, we must all ask God “to create within me a clean heart and a steadfast spirit.”

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:12-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

It is easy to blame others and make excuses for our sinful behaviour and evil thoughts, but at the end of the day, we are responsible for our own behaviour and actions.

As mature believers in Christ, repentance should no longer be because we have deliberately sinned, but rather, just in case we have made a mistake. After all, we have the Holy Spirit in us, to lead, help, and empower us to live godly lives (JOHN 14:16) that glorify our Father in heaven.

Therefore my beloved, “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
