Do What Is Right To Other People, Love Being Kind To Others, And Live Humbly
God's Will Or Mine?
MICAH 6:8
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8 is one of the most famous verses in the Bible, summarizing what God truly desires from humanity: "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
“This verse shifts the focus from outward religious rituals and sacrifices to inward transformation and ethical living. It is broken down into three actionable pillars.
It is doing what is right, fair, and impartial in all areas of life. It is about treating others equitably, protecting the vulnerable, and opposing oppression or dishonesty.
It means standing up for the marginalized and ensuring your personal and professional dealings are honest and fair.
It means going beyond the basic requirements of the law by showing compassion, kindness, and loyal love (hesed) to others. The verse specifies that you should love it, meaning it should bring you joy to give people grace and help those in need.
It means, forgiving others, offering second chances, and actively helping people even when they may not "deserve".
It is recognition of your total dependence on God and aligning your daily life with His character.
Walking humbly means living faithfully, maintaining a teachable spirit, and acknowledging your limitations and cooperating with God to carry you beyond them.
It is trusting Him with your life, walking the path He has given without waiver because you know He is always right.
It means spending time in prayer, seeking God's guidance, and keeping your ego in check so you can effectively serve others.
The core theme of this verse is a call to align your heart and life with God's nature, plans, and purposes, for your life.
Religious acts are meaningless to God without the practical application of submission, justice, mercy, and humility in everyday life. Together, these three traits ensure a balanced spiritual life—without mercy, justice becomes harsh; without justice, mercy becomes irresponsible.
“With what shall I come before the Lord, And bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
Micah 6:6-7 NKJV
God will take your sacrifices as discipline, but He doesn’t want them-He doesn't want religious sacrifice, He wants your heart. We believers must acknowledge that there will always be consequences for our actions, both good and evil, and those sacrifices can be extreme.
We need to understand that Christ died a horrific death on a cross to pay the debt of sin including yours (1 CORINTHIANS 15:3). He paid a high price for you (1 CORINTHIANS 7:23-24), and your body is not your own, it is a vessel of the Holy Spirit (1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20).
Jesus did not want His cup, but God's will came to pass (LUKE 22:42)-if it hadn't, their would be no salvation.
God is now using your body as His vessel to complete His plans and purposes to reach out to all humanity. He has a specific role for your life to fulfil His plans and purposes. It is not about your wants or likes, it's about His will being done. You may be challenged by your cup, but Your obedience will result in many being saved, but disobedience will result in sometimes extreme discipline and sacrifices.
“Samuel said to king Soul, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.””
I Samuel 15:22-23 NKJV
Just like the prophet Samuel rebukes King Saul for his disobedience we believers are being rebuked for our disobedience. Samuel famously declares that obedience is better than sacrifice, explaining that God prefers a surrendered heart over religious rituals, and likens rebellion to the severe sins of witchcraft and idolatry.
Samuel uses incredibly strong language to equate disobedience with severe consequences and spiritual evils. He compares rebellion to "divination" or witchcraft and stubbornness to "idolatry" or "teraphim" (other god's) because both rebellion and divination share a common core, replacing God's will with your own.
When you act out of rebellion, you are essentially making yourself the master, which is the definition of idolatry
Today, God is calling us believers to total submission. His ways are far above your ways (ISAIAH 55:8-9)-He knows what is good for you far above you.
“So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.”
Joel 2:13 NKJV
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
