This Only Do I Seek: That I May Dwell In The House Of The Lord All The Days Of My Life, To Gaze On The Beauty Of The Lord & To Seek His Temple

Don't Be A Luke Warm Christian

PSALM 27:4
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.
”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:4‬ ‭NKJV‬

David, by the “house of the Lord” and to inquire in His “temple”, may have been referring to the Tabernacle in Gibeon, the sanctuary he had built to house the Ark of the Covenant, or to the Temple that Solomon his son was to build.
It is most likely that David had the Temple in mind for he had made many plans for it (see 1 CHRONICLES 22).
But I am convinced that David was referring to God’s presence and His Kingdom.
His greatest desire was to live in God’s presence all the days of his life and the same should be true for all believers today.
But sadly, this is not true for all who claim to be Christians. Many limit their time with God to Sunday Church; and the sad truth is, they never get to know Him at all.
Jesus said, ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My beloved, the sick may be healed by the laying of your hands; you may prophecy or even cast out demons in Jesus name; God can and does use both the righteous and evil for His plans and purposes, but if you don’t make time to build a relationship with Christ today, He shall turn you away from the Kingdom of God tomorrow-He shall refuse to know you, declaring, “depart from Me you who practice lawlessness.”
It’s all or nothing-there is no middle ground; we cannot live with one foot in God’s kingdom and the other in the world.
My beloved, there is no place for Luke warm.
Jesus said, ““I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ ””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬-‭22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
These verses contains a letter from Jesus Christ to the church in Laodicea, which is the last of the seven churches addressed in Revelation.
This letter is a very serious warning against spiritual lukewarmness, complacency, and materialistic pride and applies to every believer today.
My brethren, it is all about relationship with Jesus Christ; without relationship with Him (the Judge who will determine your eternal future) you cannot be saved.
What do you desire? What is most important to you, your career, your social life, or maybe your money or material things?
Jesus said, I know that you need these things, “But first seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (MATHEW 6:33).
Not some, but all.
Chasing riches, status, and material things will seriously hinder your walk with God.
No one needs to chase material blessings, but we all need to seek a good relationship with our creator.
My beloved, we must get our priorities right-put God first in all things and He will take care of your provision.
That is not to say that God will reward you with every worldly thing that you crave, or riches and status in this world, for your true status is not in this world, but in Christ.
We believers are all sinners in need of a Saviour. We can do nothing good in our own strength.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My beloved, the gain of living our daily lives in the presence of God is by far greater than anything that we can imagine.
What comes from spending one’s time in God’s presence and walking in the leading of the Holy Spirit, is the fruits of the Spirit (GALATIANS 5:16-26)-righteous living, wisdom, joy and contentment that cannot be matched by worldly things, and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding which will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus (PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7).
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways higher than your ways, and His thoughts than your thoughts (ISAIAH 55:9).
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Jesus way works; but one has to put in to practice all that is in God’s Word-He must submit to the will of God.
Jesus is the truth-the only truth to stand upon, and the only way to our Father in heaven.
Only He can get you off of that ring road that takes you round and round the same old troubles-poverty, failing relationships, addiction, torment, rage, sadness, despair, depression, and so on.
Only Jesus can deliver you from the evil one.
As David tells us: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭8‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
