It's Time To Carry Your Cross

1 JOHN 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
”‭‭I John‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬

This verse is a core Christian promise about God's readiness to forgive and restore those who acknowledge their faults.
The Greek word for confess is homologeo, which literally means "to say the same thing". It means agreeing with God that your actions are wrong, rather than making excuses. “He is faithful and just", because Jesus Christ fully paid the penalty for humanity's sins on a cross, and therefore, God can justly forgive you without compromising His own absolute holiness and moral standards. He is also faithful to His own promises.
To forgive us and purify us" is both the pardon of guilt and the removal of the moral stain of sin, offering a clean slate.
This passage is also a guide for daily fellowship with God, as well as a prerequisite for initial salvation. Just as a child who disobeys a parent remains a part of the family but requires a restored relationship to feel close again, a believer confesses to maintain an unhindered, close connection with God.

In the broader context (1 John 1:5–10), John contrasts "walking in the light" with "walking in the darkness." Walking in the light does not mean living perfectly, but rather living honestly without hiding or denying your sins.
Confession of sin and recognition of the need to change, leads to forgiveness, salvation, and right relationship with God.
Salvation comes with an obligation to serve God and submit to His plans and purposes for your life. Anything less than total submission will separate us from God.
Jesus said, “”Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭34‬-‭39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus demands that He be the ultimate priority in a disciple's life. He is not commanding believers to stop loving their families, but rather making it clear that devotion to Him must surpass every other human affection.
In the Roman Empire, a person carrying a cross was marching to their execution. Jesus uses this as a metaphor to mean complete self-denial.
To follow Him requires a willingness to give up one's own agendas, reputation, and desires and submit to Christ and His agendas, even if it means cutting off people, connecting or working with others, relocating, changing careers and anything else the Lord calls one to do-even if it brings division in family life.
But when we consider that Christ died the painful death on a cross that He did to bring salvation to you, it shouldn’t be too difficult to submit to His plans and purposes and serve Him so that He can use you to apply His spilled blood to others, so they too can receive the promise, knowing that the best is yet to come.

Jesus said “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. “Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬-‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory be to God forever and ever! Amen.
Please share to our brothers and sisters all around the world.
